Spiral Staircase Kit Installation in Irving

Typical cost in Irving

  • Install a steel spiral kit you already own, up to about 10 ft$600 – $1,800+
  • Install a wood or taller kit, or one with a long landing rail$1,000 – $3,000+
  • Kit install plus cutting and framing a new floor opening$1,800 – $5,000+

Irving Spiral Staircases installs spiral staircase kits in Irving homes, whether you bought the kit online or in a store or still want help choosing one. A kit arrives as a center column, wedge treads, balusters, handrail sections and a top landing platform, and the fit is decided at installation: column plumb, rises even, platform level and anchored to the floor framing.

We check the kit against your opening and floor height before installation day, so a missing part or a wrong size shows up early. Our service area for kit installation covers Irving, Coppell and Southlake.

Kit types we install

Steel kits

Steel kits come in a range of diameters, in black, white or custom powder-coat colors, with versions for indoor and outdoor use. Treads slide or bolt onto the column in a set order, each turned to the right angle before the next goes on, so a mistake near the bottom shows up at the top.

Wood and oak kits

Wood kits pair oak or other hardwood treads with a steel column, or go all wood with a laminated handrail. Wood moves with indoor humidity, so treads should acclimate in the house before installation, and stain or finish is easier to apply before the stair goes up than after.

Forged-iron and decorative kits

Heavier forged-iron and Victorian-style kits come with scrolls, cast balusters and ornamental landing rails. Some sellers label their larger diameters code compliant; check the clear width and tread depth in the specifications rather than relying on the label.

Deck and outdoor kits

Galvanized and aluminum deck kits are made for exterior use, with platforms that bolt to a deck rim. Outdoors, installation adds a base pad and a solid connection to the deck framing; our page on outdoor spiral staircases covers those details.

Code and non-code kits

Some spiral kits are sold as non-code products, alongside code versions of the same design. Before ordering for an Irving home, check the specifications against the 2024 IRC: 26 inches of clear width, 6 3/4-inch treads at the walkline, rises of no more than 9 1/2 inches and 6 feet 6 inches of headroom at your opening. The landing guard counts too. Its openings must stop a 4-inch sphere, even though the gap between spiral treads is not limited.

Before you order

Five measurements and choices decide whether a kit fits:

  • Floor-to-floor height, finished floor to finished floor
  • Opening size, large enough for the diameter and for headroom
  • Turning direction, clockwise or counterclockwise going up, so you step off where you want
  • Platform size and which side it faces
  • A plan for the Irving permit application, submitted through the MGO portal

Order the wrong height or turning direction and the last tread will not meet the platform, which is why we confirm these numbers before installation.
